Institution Nationale des Invalides

This historic institution provides outstanding care for the wounded, disabled and other residents.

The values embodied by this healthcare facility are shared by Rotary International and our club in particular.

Rotary is committed to the fight against disease, education in all its forms, and the inclusion of all forms of disability.

We are therefore particularly appreciative of the care and welcome given to residents, the wounded and victims of terrorist attacks, who are supported on their long road to readaptation and rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation of these injured, sick and resident patients requires highly technical equipment. We organize awareness-raising and fund-raising events to procure equipment dedicated to the care of these severely injured people, whose lives have been turned upside down by accidents and injuries.

We have already secured a grant from Rotary Foundation for additional funds to increase our impact.

Institution nationale des Invalides

The Institution nationale des Invalides is the "home of the invalids", welcoming wounded veterans, victims of war and terrorist attacks. Faithful to its initial vocation, it benefits from extensive experience in the care of disabling motor and neurological pathologies, and specifically in re-education and rehabilitation.

A bit of history

In the 17th century, Louis XIV was at the head of the largest army in Europe. Aware that soldiers were the first guarantors of France's greatness, the Sun King decided to erect a building to house those who had served the royal army.

The Cité des Invalides opened to veterans in 1674. At once a hospice, barracks, convent, hospital and factory, the Hôtel was a veritable city regulated according to a system that was both military and religious. More than 4,000 boarders lived within its walls.
