Every year since 1947, the The Rotary Foundation grants several hundred scholarships to students from all over the world.
These global grants finance university studies abroad for a student wishing to pursue a career in a discipline related to one of the areas of focus of Rotary.
Depending on the case, the grant can reach up to $40,000 and can cover tuition, accommodation, transportation, visas and school supplies. Each expense must be accounted for to The Rotary Foundation.
Since the program's inception, more than 350,000 young people have benefited from Rotary scholarships
The process is similar to a Global Grant for a project: the requesting fills in a Global Grant application , complete with the student's application (cover letter, letter of recommendation, letter of admission, etc.) and must then find a host club close to where the student will be studying.
This club will monitor the student's progress during their studies, help them to settle in, assist them with all the formalities, but also welcome them to all the club meetings, and enable them to participate in its actions and its projects.
For several years, our club has had the pleasure of welcoming students studying at Sciences Po as part of peace-building and conflict prevention degrees.
Summer meeting with our 2 scholarship students
Along the Canal Saint-Martin, we organized a moment of club conviviality with Elena, who comes to us from South Dakota and is a Rotary 2023-2024 Global Grant recipient, and Sam, hailing from Texas, who was visiting Paris and whom we had welcomed in 2021-2022.
They had followed a similar path and appreciated the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange a few tips.
Sam has since become a Rotarian in Arlington, Texas.
